Volunteer TrainingSANY0016

All volunteers, regardless of assignment (patient care, administrative, or fundraising), receive training and support throughout their involvement with Hospice. It doesn't take long to prepare volunteers who will be helping around the office or with events for their assignments. Volunteers who will be visiting with patients start with 20 hours of training, usually spread over five days. The sessions are led by Nancy Morrow, Volunteer Coordinator, and include presentations and demonstrations by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, social workers, attorneys, physical therapists and other volunteers.

Nancy keeps volunteers updated about developments in hospice care through monthly newsletters and luncheons. Volunteers enjoy coming together to share experiences and learn from each other.

Each year Hospice of Jefferson County hosts a dinner so that volunteers, board members and staff can share an evening of fellowship.
